Examinations Review at Academy

Authentic Repertoire Validation

Shree Paavitra Arts Academy organizes yearly practical and theoretical examinations. Our Bharatanatyam syllabus has been drafted carefully keeping in mind the authenticity of the traditional style, validated by senior external examiners from Kalakshetra, Chennai.

Structured Syllabus

Certification Levels

Under the basic level, the 1st Year is called Adivaaram and the 2nd Year is Nadai Murai, focusing on postures (Araimandi), rhythmic tap cycles, and coordinates.

Adavus are rhythmic movement groups configured from simple to complex combinations:

Theoretical studies focusing on dance aesthetics, historical lineage, and expressive systems:

  • Emotive Core: Distinguishing Nritta (rhythm), Nritya (rhythm & expression), and Natya (drama).
  • Aesthetics: Exploring Viniyogas, Ashtanayikas (8 types of heroines), and the 4 types of Abhinaya.

Students recite the syllable structures (Solkattu) with hand-claps while simultaneously maintaining tempo:

  • Kauthvams: Devotional items set to Ganesha, Kartikeya, and Nataraja.

Advanced stage studies cover the 5th Year (Nadunilai Pin Bhagam) and 6th Year (Virpannar), qualifying students as professional dancers and independent choreographers.

Advanced musicology and structural dance compositions:

Creative Productions

Choreography & Original Ballets

Creating unique choreography pieces and interpreting songs in multiple visual ways remains a core focus of Shree Paavitra Arts Academy's leadership.

Led by Smt. Nandhini Ashok, the academy acts as a production house, staging new, large-scale dance dramas every year. We believe that we are gifted with poet works that carry rich meanings and interpretations. We provide students and choreographers with deep knowledge of these themes, origin contexts, and histories.

This systematic background allows each artist to compose their own movements, letting their unique creativity shine and making the soul of the dance more compelling to witness.

Visual Classical Arts

Fine Arts & Crafts Division

Alongside performance disciplines, we nurture focus, patience, and fine craftsmanship. Our visual arts workshops are curated by Sudha Venkateswaran.

Sudha's passion for the arts began at a very young age. She completed 13 years of rigorous study and assistantship under her guru Mrs. Indira Prakash, learning oil, water, fabric, glass, and pot painting. She later expanded her training by studying the traditional art of Thanjore Painting under Smt. Nandhini Ashok.

Today, she directs the visual arts division of the academy. She creates props, backdrops, and designer crafts, while conducting art classes for children and adults to sharpen their visual style.
